Job Title: Director of Programs
Location: 205 Portland Street, 6th Floor
Boston, MA 02114
Hours: 40 hours per week

The Program Director will have primary responsibility for
developing, implementing, overseeing, replicating and evaluating
a range of Schwartz Center programs and initiatives. The Program
Director will work closely with the program staff and physician
to create new and innovative programs as warranted, furthering
the Center’s mission and assisting with any programmatic
initiatives that become organizational priorities as a result
of our strategic plan or funding opportunities. This person
will also help broaden the Center’s visibility, influence
and impact. The Program Director will report directly to the
Senior Director of Programs.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Supervise the Associate Program Director and Program
Coordinator.
• Educate new Schwartz Center Rounds sites, particularly
strategic sites that we have identified and are trying to interest
in starting the Rounds, about the program. Assist in start-up,
trouble shooting, and making site visits, particularly to strategic
hospitals. The site visits may involve traveling to other states.
Become totally conversant about the benefits of the Rounds.
Develop and/or edit materials related to the Rounds, eg, power
point presentations for conferences and meetings with senior
management, articles, Case of the Month for the website, etc.
• Work with existing Rounds sites to deepen the relationship
by engaging senior leadership and making Rounds more integral
to efforts focused on improving patient-centered care.
• Work with Rounds sites to mine the Rounds for general
principles and other teaching materials.
• Develop special topics to be discussed at Rounds sites
across the country.
• Manage and evaluate the success of Rounds for special
groups (eg, health insurers, long-term care facilities).
• Help develop the second iteration of the Schwartz Center
Rounds evaluation.
• With other staff, help expand programming in New York
City or any other targeted geographic location.
• Help plan any conferences or symposiums sponsored by
the Schwartz Center.
• Develop any Requests for Proposals for grants (done
every other year).
• Participate in strategic discussions with Development
staff as new opportunities for funding arise.
• Perform research and writing as needed.
• Assist with special projects as needed, including the
Schwartz Center’s annual dinner and any programmatic programs
that precede the event.
SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

EDUCATION:
• Minimum BA/BS degree required
• Masters degree preferred
EXPERIENCE:
• Minimum of 10 years of related work experience in program
development, implementation and evaluation, preferably in health
care
• Supervisory experience required
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
• Supervise 2 exempt staff members

Job Title: Development Coordinator
Location: 205 Portland Street, 6th Floor

The Development Coordinator provides overall support and
administrative assistance to the Development Team which consists
of four people plus the Executive Director who also devotes
a portion of time to the development function. The Coordinator
reports to the Senior Director of Development.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Ensures the highest integrity and accuracy of the Raiser’s
Edge database. Responsible for the timeliness of gift/pledge
processing and acknowledgement. Manages the gift acknowledgement
process including: updating and creating donor records in the
database, processing gifts, data entry, and maintaining accurate
and up-to-date information on donors in Raiser’s Edge.
• Generates acknowledgement letters, tracking the letters
through a review process by other members of the Development
Team, and copying, mailing, and filing the letters.
• Coordinates the creation of summary and analytical reports
on fundraising results from Raiser’s Edge, as well as
creating mailing lists for agency mailings.
• Coordinates administrative aspects of development events
including but not limited to: mailings, response tracking, event
materials, general logistics and appropriate follow-up as directed.
Checks the event line voicemail and email account regularly
and responds appropriately.
• Schedules and arranges internal and external meetings
for the department including but not limited to group meetings
of the Leadership Council, Development Committee, and individual
meetings with board members, council members, and major donors.
Assists department in preparing for appointments, meetings,
and presentations by anticipating, coordinating, reviewing and
organizing related materials. Confirms attendance for meetings
as needed.
• Works with the Development Manager of Events and Marketing
on additional stewardship opportunities (i.e. pertinent news
items, holiday mailings, etc.)
• Provides logistical support for Board of Director meetings
including room bookings, technology, and catering orders. (Attendance
at evening meetings 4-6 times per year).
• Assists in the preparation of materials for presentations
to donors and prospects as requested.
• Coordinates assignments for interns/volunteers for the
development team.
• Designs and maintains appropriate filing and follow-up
systems for the team.
• Troubleshoots and resolves issues as they arise on behalf
of the department.
• Coordinates office supply orders.
• Acts as point person with landlord on building facility
issues and with vendors on office equipment.
• Answers the main phone line. Shares various office administration
tasks with the Program Coordinator.
Requirements:
• Must have Bachelor's degree and a min of 3 yrs experience
in administrative role.
• Excellent computer skills including extensive knowledge
of MS Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and the Internet. Experience
with Raiser’s Edge or other fundraising database software
strongly preferred, but training will be provided.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills, detail-oriented, and efficient.
• Strong commitment to quality work, customer service,
and high productivity.
• High degree of initiative and independent judgment.
• In person, by phone, and through written correspondence,
uses sensitivity, good judgment, relationship-building skills
and overall standards of excellence in communicating with donors.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Ability to be flexible and handle multiple tasks at
once.
