Our Supporters

Our work would not be possible without the generous support of many individual, foundation and corporate donors.  They show their commitment to compassionate healthcare by contributing to the Schwartz Center in a multitude of ways.  On a regular basis, we use this space to highlight our relationship with one of these valued supporters.

Tufts Health Plan

At 5 p.m. on the last Wednesday in May, the atrium at Tufts Health Plan in Watertown, Massachusetts, quickly fills with 500 women. By day, it’s the health insurer’s dining room; that evening it serves as an inviting gathering space that welcomes women (and quite a few men!) from all segments of healthcare and related entities. Guests get busy networking, renewing friendships, exchanging lively banter and discussing the key health care issues of the day. The energy level reaches a high point just prior to everyone turning their attention to the evening’s guest speaker – always a woman with a health care story to tell, and usually a story about compassionate care. Recent speakers have included Victoria Reggie Kennedy, Ellen Zane, president and CEO, Tufts Medical Center; Mara Aspinall, founder and director, On-Q-Ity; and Kelly Tuthill, news anchor, WCVB-    TV and breast cancer survivor.

For nine years now, Tufts Health Plan has generously underwritten this popular event, The Schwartz Center for Compassionate Healthcare's Celebration of Women in Healthcare.  During that period, a total of $600,000 has been raised, with 100 percent of those funds used to support the Center’s innovative programs.

Tufts Health Plan’s commitment to the Schwartz Center continues beyond the spring event. James Roosevelt Jr., president and CEO of Tufts Health Plan, is a long-time member of the Schwartz Center board of directors, and the company has been a sponsor of the Annual Kenneth B. Schwartz Compassionate Healthcare Dinner every November since 1996. Clearly, to Tufts Health Plan, part of keeping us healthy means fostering strong patient-caregiver relationships as evidenced by its strong support of The Schwartz Center for Compassionate Healthcare.

Thank you, Tufts Health Plan, for your commitment to our mission.
