The Schwartz Center developed a toolkit
for Rounds sites to help them implement Rounds and gain senior
management support for the Rounds. We hope this will be helpful
and are open to adding any other ideas that Rounds participants
may have. The toolkit includes:
1. A PowerPoint presentation that summarizes the purpose and format
of the Rounds. It also summarizes the benefits of the Rounds as
determined by the evaluation conducted by Goodman Research Group.
This can be used in its current form or adapted in any way.
2. A list of ideas for gaining support from senior management.
3. Suggestions on how to obtain funding for the 40% of direct
costs that hospitals must pay under the cost sharing arrangement.
4. Explanation of process involved in obtaining CME credit for
the Rounds
5. Tips on implementing Rounds
6. Interviews with facilitators about how to prepare for Rounds
and how to facilitate the discussion to come
‘‘The Schwartz Center Rounds act as a reminder of how to practice good,
compassionate medicine — it is rare that people are able to speak so openly.’’
