Celebrating Extraordinary Acts of Compassion

Honoring a Nation of
Compassionate Caregivers

Since 1999, the Schwartz Center for Compassionate Healthcare has honored outstanding healthcare professionals who display extraordinary devotion and compassion in caring for patients and families. Each year for the past 21 years, we have invited nominations, narrowed the field to finalists and ultimately selected one individual or team to be honored as our National Compassionate Caregiver of the Year (NCCY)®.

This year, however, is different. The public health crisis created by the COVID-19 pandemic has strained the country’s healthcare system like never before and, as a result, healthcare professionals everywhere have faced unprecedented and unimaginable challenges, selflessly and bravely putting themselves at risk to care for others. In response, instead of honoring one individual or team this year, the Schwartz Center’s 2020 NCCY program is recognizing ALL caregivers by Honoring a Nation of Compassionate Caregivers.

Later this fall we will share with you a video comprised of stories, videos, photos, audio recordings, and more, submitted by members of the Schwartz Center community, that comprehensively tells the extraordinary story of the nation’s caregivers who are making a profound difference through their unmatched dedication to compassionate healthcare.

Check back soon for our video Honoring a Nation of Compassionate Caregivers.
