Maria S. Kokas, PhD

Director of Learning Systems, Henry Ford Hospital

Maria has centered her career on developing people and organizations.  She specializes in making complex concepts come alive driving organizational change and practical application.  She is an educational strategist and senior administrator; has worked in public health, institutional health care, educational settings, private industry, pharmaceuticals and NIH academic research.  Her core belief is that:  What we need is within each of us.  Our job is to tap into those resources to enrich our personal and professional lives and the organizations that we support.

 

As the Henry Ford Health System Director of Learning Systems and Resources, Maria supports 50 accredited residency and fellowship programs.  She works with faculty, administrators, and trainees to build and institutionalize comprehensive learning systems.  Her focus is on strengthening core competencies and care provider wellbeing to build sustainable personal and organizational growth.  In addition to her work in Graduate Medical Education, Maria coaches physician clients, works on several national and regional professional boards, regularly presents at national conferences and publishes in peer-reviewed journals.

 

She has published her research in major educational journals and regularly speaks at regional and national conferences.

 

Maria earned her PhD in Education from Wayne State University; her Physician Coaching Certification from The Physician Coaching Institute and her Emotional Intelligence Leadership Certification from Case Western University’s Weatherhead School of Management.
