Mrs. Long has over 25 years of nursing home training and experience.  She is currently the clinical research nurse educator for multi-site medical education initiatives in long term care facilities.  Monica has trained in other clinical settings and in the community with a goal of improving health care for older adults and focus on transforming clinical training environments into integrated geriatrics and primary care systems with increased community engagement.   Monica has been with SHARE Network since February 2016 disseminating her work through curriculum design, inter-professional geriatric training, and with manuscript submissions and publication in Elsevier’s Geriatric Nursing Journal. She has trained certified nursing assistants, licensed practical nurses and registered nurses face to face, as well as through innovative technology, working with ECHO-Chicago creating and facilitating evidenced-based geriatric curriculum.  Monica serves as an educator/facilitator for the Dementia Resource Champions (DRC), training community leaders in recognizing signs and symptoms and supporting patients with dementia.  She also assists and trains other community based partner organizations in creating healthy aging, and age friendly systems for older adults, caregivers and families across the Chicago land area.  Monica assists with recruiting and promoting medical staff enrollment and participation in educational programs.  Conducting needs assessments, and   research, she works with inter-professional teams to analyze findings to professionally represent evidence at national and regional geriatric conferences.
